A great place for kids…

It has been a very busy spring at the farm. Our first baby goat was born on April 13th and our last darling’s date of birth was May 8th! Total baby goats for 2015……. 10! Now for the shocker—-9 boys and 1 girl:)

Just an hour old…..

We had a few first time mothers and a few experienced mothers, but all, we are happy to report, have been very attentive and loving to their newborns!

A few of our babies struggled with the concept of nursing at first…..just like human babies, they sometimes need some help learning how to latch on, but after a little bit of bottle feeding and some hard work by Theresa, Christian (an expert milker!) and Cara (one of our incredible farmhands) they all caught on!

Our office was turned into a makeshift nursery for a few days with the most reluctant nurser, but once he was on track, we were happily able to bring him and his mother back to the nursing pens.

This has been our largest baby goat population burst ever! It sure has been great fun watching ten (that’s a full set of fingers or toes!) kids grow and frolic in the back yard!
